By accessing or using the Badge 6 software platform, you agree to be bound by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. These outline your rights and responsibilities as a user, including how your data is protected, how the software should be used, and what limitations apply. Please review them carefully.
Continued use of the platform constitutes your acknowledgment and acceptance of these policies.
By accessing or using the Badge 6 software platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, you may not use the platform.
Company Definition: For purposes of these Terms of Service, "Badge Six, LLC" (the "Company") and "Badge 6" (the software platform and related services) may be used interchangeably or refer to the provider of the Badge 6 platform and services.
1. Software License & User Responsibilities
Badge 6 grants your department a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use the Badge 6 software solely for law enforcement accreditation management, policy organization, and related administrative functions.
Users agree to:

Maintain the confidentiality of login credentials.

Ensure that only authorized personnel access the system.

Use the platform only for lawful purposes related to department operations.
Users may not:

Modify, copy, reverse engineer, or distribute any portion of the software.

Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other departments’ data.

Resell, sublicense, or commercially distribute the software without written authorization from Badge 6.
Departments are responsible for managing user permissions and ensuring appropriate internal cybersecurity practices.
2. Data Ownership & Security
All policies, accreditation documentation, assessments, proofs of compliance, and other materials uploaded to the Badge 6 platform remain the sole property of the department that uploaded the information.
Badge 6 provides a secure platform to store, organize, and manage these materials. The platform employs industry-standard security measures including encryption, secure authentication, and access controls designed to protect user data.
Badge 6 may generate downloadable reports or compiled documents from user-provided data, including but not limited to accreditation summaries, compliance reports, and Standard Summary Reports. These documents are created solely from department-provided information and remain the property of the department.
While Badge 6 maintains strong platform security, departments are responsible for protecting their internal networks, devices, and authorized user access. Badge 6 is not responsible for security incidents originating from a department’s internal systems, personnel actions, or third-party integrations.
3. AI-Assisted Features
Badge 6 includes AI-assisted tools designed to help departments organize accreditation materials, analyze policy language, match documents to standards, and generate structured reports such as the Standard Summary Report.
These AI-assisted outputs are generated based on information provided by users and are intended solely as organizational and analytical tools. Departments remain fully responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving all generated content prior to submitting materials to any accrediting body or third-party platform.
AI-generated summaries, matches, or suggested compliance indicators do not constitute legal advice, accreditation approval, or certification of compliance.
Because AI-assisted analysis relies on automated processing of user-provided materials, generated summaries, document matches, or recommendations may occasionally contain inaccuracies, omissions, or incomplete interpretations. Users are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated outputs and confirming their accuracy before relying on them for operational, legal, or accreditation purposes.
4. Limitations of Liability
Badge 6 provides software tools designed to assist departments in managing accreditation workflows and documentation. The platform does not guarantee accreditation outcomes or compliance determinations.
The software and its features are provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
Badge 6 shall not be liable for:

Accreditation decisions made by accrediting bodies

Policy interpretations or legal determinations
-
Departmental compliance outcomes
-
Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform
Final responsibility for accreditation submissions, documentation accuracy, and compliance determinations remains with the department.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Badge 6's total liability arising out of or related to the use of the platform shall not exceed the total amount paid by the department for use of the platform during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
In no event shall Badge 6 be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of use, or loss of operational capacity, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
5. Third-Party Accreditation Standards Manuals & Licensing
Badge 6 is a workflow and accreditation support platform designed to assist agencies in organizing, managing, and completing accreditation-related work. Badge 6 does not provide, distribute, or grant access to proprietary accreditation standards, including but not limited to CALEA standards.
Users are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining any required licenses, subscriptions, or authorized access to third-party standards, platforms, or materials necessary for their accreditation process, including access through providers such as CALEA or PowerDMS.
By using Badge 6 in connection with any accreditation program, you represent and warrant that you have lawful access to all applicable standards and Accrediting Body materials. You agree not to upload, store, reproduce, or distribute any copyrighted or proprietary materials within the platform in violation of any license agreement or applicable law.
Badge 6 does not monitor or verify user licensing status and assumes no responsibility or liability for unauthorized use of third-party materials by users.
6. Account Suspension & Termination
Badge 6 reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the platform in cases of:

Violation of these Terms of Service

Unauthorized access attempts
-
Misuse of the platform or system infrastructure
Departments may discontinue use of the platform at any time according to their contractual agreement.
7. Intellectual Property & Trademarks
The Badge 6 name, logo, platform design, and associated branding elements are the intellectual property of Badge 6 and may not be used without written permission.
This includes, but is not limited to:
The Badge 6® name and brand
The Badge 6 logo
The phrase “Accreditation: Simplified.”
Platform feature names such as Standard Summary Report and other Badge 6 software functionality
These marks, graphics, and software elements may not be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed, or used in connection with any product or service without the prior written consent of Badge 6.
Nothing in these Terms of Service grants users any ownership rights to the Badge 6 platform, software, branding, or intellectual property.
8. Platform Structure & Workflow Protection
The Badge 6 platform includes proprietary workflows, structured processes, user interface design, accreditation management methodologies, and software architecture developed by Badge 6 to guide departments through the accreditation process.
Users may not copy, replicate, reproduce, or create competing products based on the platform’s structure, workflow design, feature organization, or system methodology without prior written permission from Badge 6.
Unauthorized reproduction or imitation of the Badge 6 platform structure, workflow processes, or proprietary system design may constitute a violation of applicable intellectual property laws.
9. Indemnification
Departments agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Badge 6, its officers, employees, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or related to:

"Use of the platform in violation of these Terms"

"Uploading or use of unauthorized, copyrighted, or proprietary materials"

"Violation of any third-party agreement, including accreditation standards licensing agreements"

"Misuse of the platform by department personnel or authorized users"
10. Service Availability & Modifications
Badge 6 makes reasonable efforts to ensure platform availability and performance but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, or circumstances beyond Badge 6's control. Badge 6 reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue features of the platform at any time to improve functionality or security.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed and constructed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict of law principles, unless otherwise expressly set forth in a written agreement executed between Badge 6 and the agency.
12. Public Records and Legal Compliance
Badge 6 is a software platform designed to assist law enforcement agencies in organizing and managing accreditation-related documentation. Badge 6 does not determine, control, or assume responsibility for a department's legal obligations regarding public records, records retention, or disclosure requirements.
Departments are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to public records laws, Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests, records retention requirements, and evidentiary obligations.
Using the Badge 6 platform does not alter, replace, or satisfy any legal requirements related to the storage, retention, disclosure, or production of records.
Badge 6 does not independently respond to public records requests or legal demands for department data. Any such requests must be directed to the applicable department, which retains full control and responsibility over its records.
To the extend Badge 6 receives a lawful request for data, Badge 6 reserves the right to notify the applicable department and cooperate as required by law.
Departments retain ownership of all materials they upload to the platform.
Badge 6 may periodically update these Terms of Service. Continued use of the platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Terms of Service
Generally speaking,
Badge 6 is committed to protecting the privacy and security of the departments and users who utilize the platform. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected.
1. Information You Provide
Departments using Badge 6 may provide the following types of information:

User Information

Names, email addresses, and login credentials of authorized department users.

Uploaded Content
-
Policies, accreditation assessments, proofs of compliance, supporting documentation, and other materials uploaded by departments.

Usage Data

System-generated logs that record activity within the platform for security monitoring, troubleshooting, and system performance purposes.
2. How Your Information Is Used
Badge 6 uses the information provided by departments solely to deliver and support the platform’s functionality.
Information may be used to:

Facilitate accreditation management and policy organization

Assist with document tracking, compliance workflows, and reporting

Generate structured summaries and reports based on user-provided information

Maintain system security and detect unauthorized activity

Provide customer support when requested by users
Certain platform features may process uploaded documents or user-entered information using automated or AI-assisted analysis to generate summaries, compliance matching, or structured reports. This processing occurs solely to provide requested platform functionality.
Badge 6 does not use department data to train external AI systems.
Badge 6 may use contact information to send product updates, system announcements, or relevant industry information. Users may unsubscribe from marketing or non-essential communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in emails or by contacting info@badgesix.com.
Badge 6 processes department data solely for the purpose of providing platform functionality, including storage, organization, analysis, and report generation. Badge 6 does not access or use department data for any purpose unrelated to the operation, maintenance, or support of the platform.
3. Data Security & Retention
Badge 6 implements industry-standard security measures to protect department information, including encryption of data both in transit and at rest.
All data stored within the platform remains owned and controlled by the department.
Badge 6 does not access, analyze, or use department data beyond what is necessary to provide platform functionality and system support.
Upon termination of a department’s contract, all department data will be permanently removed from the platform within 30 days unless the department requests earlier export or removal.
Badge 6 retains department data only for the duration of the active subscription and for a limited period thereafter as necessary to fulfill contractual obligations, provide data export, or comply with applicable legal requirements.
4. User Control & Access
Departments maintain full control over their data within the Badge 6 platform.
Departments may:

Add or remove authorized users

Modify or delete uploaded materials
-
Export accreditation documentation and reports at any time
Badge 6 does not sell, share, rent, or distribute department data to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services & Integrations
Badge 6 may offer optional integrations with third-party services or external platforms. Any such integrations require explicit authorization by the department.
Third-party services connected through the platform operate under their own privacy policies and terms of service.
6. Government & Law Enforcement Data
Badge 6 is designed to support law enforcement agencies in organizing accreditation materials, policies, and operational documentation. All records, policies, reports, and uploaded materials remain the property and responsibility of the department that provides them.
Badge 6 does not claim ownership of any law enforcement records stored within the platform.
Departments are solely responsible for determining how their records must be maintained, retained, disclosed, or archived in accordance with applicable laws, public records requirements, accreditation standards, or departmental policies.
Use of the Badge 6 platform does not alter a department’s legal obligations regarding records management, evidence handling, public records requests, or other statutory requirements.
7. No Sale of Data
Badge 6 dos not sell, monetize, or use department data for advertising purposes. All data remains private and is used exclusively to support the functionality of the platform.
Badge 6 functions solely as a software platform to assist departments in organizing and managing their own documentation.
